2018 Trends in Interior Design

March 20, 2018 by Lynn

Each new year comes with an exciting array of interior design ideas and 2018 is no exception. This year brings new style trends for everyone to enjoy. Gary G Friedman believes we’re seeing a blend of new looks coming into shape and a few old aesthetics coming back into the scene. From patterned ceiling décor to confident and assertive wallpapers, several interior design trends seem to stand out. So far, 2018 looks be a year of color, experimentation and thinking outside the box.

Statement Ceilings

Statement ceilings have become a growing trend this year. Gone are the days when the ceiling was just a wall to ignore or tone down. Instead, people are embracing this new trend by incorporating bold designs using textured or printed wallpaper, exposed beams, timber moldings or striking paint colors.

The Wallpaper Trend

Wallpaper is taking on a greater role as a work of art. From simple stripes to a botanical garden on the wall, wallpaper provides a great way to incorporate design and add texture to a wall. People are feeling braver with wallpaper than ever before. Rather than just paper feature walls, homeowners are taking the bold step to paper all four walls. The most recent techniques in printed vinyl are allowing the making of high quality, beautiful and strikingly detailed wallpapers. There’s also an increased acceptance of darker colors that exude confidence and assertiveness.

Mixing Finishes

Combining different elements and materials of interior design creates a more artistic feel and sophisticated look. Layering natural and painted woods, bare iron and stone with touches of metal is gaining popularity. Mixing different types of woods and blending pieces from different eras and styles without letting any theme or style dominate is the secret to success in mixing different materials for a harmonious feel.

Metals

Metals are again a force to reckon with in 2018. Copper lamps and accessories have served their time and silver is taking over as the new trend. Silver has the unique ability to add a cool yet elegant charm to interior décor. Picture frames, lamps and other accessories with the look of silver create a sense of class, especially when combined with other metallic shades or rich fabrics.

Materials with Purpose

2017 saw a wide array of sophisticated recycled materials emerge and take center stage in interior design. Interior tiles made from corn husks, leather alternatives made from pineapple leaves and furniture made entirely from cans are just but to mention a few. 2018 is an even more exciting year for design and materials. We are going to see a rise in materials being made with purpose. There’s a clear shift towards a design approach that considers our carbon footprint and society in a much more positive way.

Comfort

Overall, we’re leaning towards design that is more casual and focused on experience. The boundaries between work and leisure are getting blurrier. If you feel overwhelmed by making these choices yourself, you can look into an interior designer as well. This trend is reflected in furniture and surface finishes with fabrics such as velvet growing in popularity in 2018. Leisure-based designs such as those in restaurants and hospitals are finding their way into different sectors, from retail to office, fashion and beyond.

5 Invaluable Home Remodelling Tips

March 20, 2018 by Lynn

If you have plans to remodel your home in the near future,CBI Tulsa has ideas to discover 5 invaluable home remodeling tips.

 5 Invaluable Home Remodelling Tips:

 1. Make sure to pack away all of your valuable items, before you start work on remodeling your home

It’s well worth placing expensive items such as a grand piano, artwork and furniture into a safe storage unit until work has been completed on your home. As the last thing you want is for your builders to accidentally damage items which have a high monetary value or which hold sentimental value to members of your household.

 2. Make sure to include a completion date in your contract

Unfortunately, many contractors and builders fail to complete jobs on time, which is inexcusable as when you pay for a service, you should demand a high level of service and professionalism. So if you want to increase your chances of your job being completed on time, to a high standard, it’s well worth including a completion date in your contract with your remodelers.

You may even want to consider negotiating terms where your contractors are forced to give you a 10% discount, for every week which they run late. Just make sure to choose a realistic completion date, which both you and your chosen contractors are happy with. As there’s no point choosing a completion date, which your contractors will struggle to realistically meet.

 3. Set up a makeshift kitchen, which is located far away from the hustle and bustle of any construction which may be going on

If you fail to set up a makeshift kitchen, you’ll soon grow tired of consuming takeout on a daily basis or having to rely on the generosity of your family and friends, in order to prepare your daily meals. What types of appliances do you need in order to create a functional makeshift kitchen? It’s well worth setting up a mini fridge, a microwave oven, and a jug, in order to be able to prepare a wide array of scrumptious dishes, without having to set foot in your everyday kitchen!

 4. Show your remodeling team sketches or photos of the type of work you’d like completed

While you can opt to try and explain exactly what you’d like done to your house, it’s well worth helping out your chosen construction team by showing them sketches or photos of the type of work you’d like completed. As many individuals work best if they are given visual aids to work with as sometimes its hard to conceptualize words alone.

 5. Consider tearing down some of your house’s walls

One way to completely makeover your home is to tear down some of the walls, in order to make your home feel more spacious. As an example, if there is a wall between your kitchen and dining room or your dining room and your lounge, it’s well worth tearing down your wall, in order to create an inviting indoor-outdoor flow.

If you plan on completing a remodel of your home in the near future, simply refer back to this handy guide for invaluable advice, which will make remodeling your home a breeze.

Sono Bello Reviews Microblading

March 20, 2018 by Lynn

Microblading seems to be everywhere right now. So when Sono Bello reviews the procedure, which supposedly gives people perfectly shaped, full, arched eyebrows, it is no surprise that people start to pay attention. The reason why they though it was time for this review is because more and more of their Bellevue, WA clients are asking about it, and because there have been more and more horror stories about the procedure as well.

The Problem with Microblading

Sono Bello has heard numerous comments from people who say microblading is something that they dont want to do ever again. On the amp, there are stories of people being left with zebra stripes for eyebrows and complaints about the companies completing the procedures not being helpful at all. However, according to Sono Bello, microblading can be done right and have fantastic effects, but that takes a little bit of research.

The most common complaints are about eyebrows not matching, people having allergic reactions, or even developing infections. The procedure, which is essentially a semi-permanent facial tattoo, lasts up to 18 months. It costs around $500 and means people have the perfect eyebrows for well over a year. Sono Bello says that those who have received the proper training can deliver this treatment and the results look like the real thing.

The issue is, however, that there is currently no requirement for formal training for microblading. In Bellevue, WA, the only thing that is needed is a state license, which can be obtained through the DOL. They do not, however, mandate exam or education requirements for the procedure at all. In fact, the only requirement is the completion of a bloodborne pathogen class and being over 18. The cost of a license is just $250.

All across the nation, complaints have been posted about problems with microblading. Experts like Sono Bello have also heard from many people who haven’t lodged a formal complaint, but who have come through their doors in the hopes of having their botched jobs fixed. While the procedure isn’t permanent, 18 months is a long time for someone to have misshapen, striped eyebrows.

Sono Bello is happy to see, however, that the DOL is looking at potential regulations. An Advisory Board has been formed that includes state inspectors, permanent cosmetic artists, and tattoo artists, and they are reviewing what can be done. Of greatest shock to Sono Bello, however, is the fact that the vast majority of complaints come from people who went to “clinics” that did not even have a state license. This could suggest that, even if the DOL puts regulations in place, it won’t make much of a difference.

Microblading, if done right, is a fantastic technique. Sono Bello recommends, therefore, that anyone who wants to have the procedure completed checks the DOL website firstly to determine whether the clinic or individual is licensed in the first place. If they are, they should spend some time asking questions about experience and training, and to check reviews from past patients.

A Guide to Understanding American Football

March 19, 2018 by Lynn

If you’re unfamiliar with some of the basic rules which govern American football, Ryan Grigson continue reading on to discover a handy, fool proof guide to understanding American football.

After all, there’s nothing worse than having to sit and watch a sports game, when you don’t understand the objective of the game or its rules.

Understanding American Football:

1. The major objective of American football is to try and score as many touch downs as possible

For every touch down which a team scores by successfully getting a player to place their football on to their team’s end zone, they will earn 6 points for their team. After scoring a touch down, the lucky team who just scored a touch down will try and earn an extra bonus point, by trying to kick a football through the uprights.

However, there is another way in which players can earn points for their team. In American football the second way to earn points, is to score a field goal. However, field goals are only worth 3 points, which is half the amount of points which players score if they manage to complete a touchdown.

2. Unlike most other sports, defensive players can also earn points for their team

While in the vast majority of sports such as basketball and soccer, defensive players can not score points for their team by preventing their opposition from scoring, in American Football, defensive players are able to score valuable points for their team. Which makes American Football even more exciting to watch.

You may be wondering how a defensive player can earn points for their team. If one or more defensive players manage to successfully tackle an offensive player to the ground in their opponents end-zone their team will be awarded 2 points for their valiant efforts.

3. Each team fields 11 players

At any given time, there should be 22 players on the field, 11 players from each team.

4. Each game takes over an hour to play

American football is comprised of four, fifteen minute periods. However, when the ball is thrown or kicked out of play, the time on the official’s stopwatch is paused. So most games of professional football usually take a minimum of one hour to play out. Also keep in mind that in a professional game, players will be given a 15 minute half time break in order to recuperate from running around on a large field for 15 minutes.

5. Time outs are a tactical part of American Football

In each half of the game, the coach of a team can use three time outs, in order to get their team to regroup and discuss possible strategies. Often, when a coach chooses to utilize their team’s time outs, can decide which team ends up victorious and which team suffers a crushing defeat.

If you previously knew nothing about the objective of American Football and its basic rules, hopefully you now have a basic understanding of America’s number game sport. After all, you’ll have so much more fun watching football, if you understand some of its rules.

Bob Mims Memphis: The Effects Of Divorce On Men

March 19, 2018 by Lynn

It doesn’t matter what reason has been cited, divorce can have all sorts of repercussions on men. A routine which may have lasted for decades has effectively been thrown out of the window, and what often happens is that guys are left to stroll around the golf course on an August afternoon in a bid to fill the hours.

Mature man toying with gold wedding ring on finger

Of course, there’s far more to it than this. This is something that Bob Mims Memphis has discovered, and the findings from his work are interesting to say the least. Some of these findings have arrived from university-esque studies, while others have been found through reports in the community. Let’s now take a look at the typical effects of divorce on the modern-day man.

It takes men longer to adjust emotionally than women

Men are often regarded as having less emotional sensitivity than a woman, but studies have found that they actually struggle to adapt to their new situation more than women. It’s understood that a man will really struggle to cope with the loss of a social connection and intimacy, which are areas which a typical woman will be able to grasp more quickly. There is also an issue about finances here, with men tending to struggle more now that the finances have been divided (and ultimately been reduced).

Men will remarry more quickly than women

Following on from the previous point, this next one sounds almost strange. However, once a man has got over the initial period of emotional instability, it appears as though they will tend to remarry a lot more quickly.

This is what a different study revealed, with divorced men much more likely to walk down the aisle at a quicker rate than their divorced ex.

Men can be more negative about divorce

Like most of the points we have talked about, there might be an element of surprise with this next point as well. Once again, as men are seen as the less sensitive type, it’s generally assumed that they will “get on” with things and ultimately spend more time doing the things they enjoy (like heading to the golf course!).

However, research has suggested that they are more negative about the prospect of divorce, and will often try and reconcile before finally accepting the situation. Again, considering the statistics regarding remarrying, this can be quite a tricky point to understand for many.

Shared parental responsibility often means that the dad plays a significant part in the child’s life

Fortunately, divorce doesn’t always have to end significantly badly for children in the middle of things. It has been found that those dads who have shared parental responsibility are much more likely to participate in their child’s life, than so called “deadbeat” dads. This doesn’t just relate to the time they spend with them either, but also the money they pledge towards their development. In other words, it truly is an equal split between both parents – which is often debated.
