Easy and Safe Online Shopping with V.me by Visa
Shopping online is becoming more and more common for me and my family, especially during the holidays. Almost all our purchases were done online this year. Yes, I did my Black Friday shopping online, and skipped the crowds. Thankfully, it’s also becoming easier to shop online.
I was shopping over at Cooking.com the other day, because they have a ton of kitchen stuff. Most of which I don’t need, but really really want. I did find a couple Paleo cookbooks that I’ve been wanting to buy, and they just happened to have on sale, with free shipping – double awesome!
To make it even better, check out was a breeze because of new V.me by Visa.
V.me makes it super easy to shop online, and it took me less than a minute to set up my account. With V.me I can add any Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover credit or debit card – which is then stored securely in my V.me account.
You can even give your cards nicknames, or petnames if that’s what you prefer (no judgement) so you know exactly which payment method you are using. Which helps if you do add more than one card to your account. Besides storing your card information, they also store your shipping address (or addresses), which you also choose from when you pay with V.me.
V.me keeps track of all your transactions in your account. You can go back and see where you shopped and how much you spent. Which after the last couple of weeks, I probably don’t want to see.
My favorite feature for V.me are the text message (or email) alerts. You can sign up for alerts for:
- Specific Dollar Amount - if the transaction is more than a certain amount, which you choose.
- Card-Not-Present - when the transaction occurs online or over the phone regardless of purchase amount.
- International - An alert is triggered if a purchase is made outside the country that issued your Visa card.
- Declined - when the transaction is declined regardless of purchase amount.
- Gasoline - when the transaction occurs at a gasoline station regardless of purchase amount, as stolen cards are often tested at gas stations.
All of this is FREE to use, plus no fee for the V.me alerts service. Although text message and data rates may apply with your wireless carrier.
Over time, features like mobile payments, relevant deals and offers based on your activity and interests, and creating forms to budget and track spending by time, category, and merchant will also be accessible.
Right now the only downfall I see to V.me is the fact that it’s not available everywhere – only at select retailers where you see the V.me logo.
Now, if I could just get those books here as quickly…
