Up until earlier this year, I had never heard about the Paleo Diet. Thankfully, joining the Mamavation community has opened me up to new ideas and ways for healthy eating and healthy living. Paleo, being one of them.
What is the Paleo diet?
Paleo, actually comes from the word paleolithic, and is also referred to as the caveman diet, Stone Age diet and hunter-gatherer diet. It is a modern nutritional plan based on the ancient diet of wild plants and animals that humans consumed during the Paleolithic era—a period of about 2.5 million years duration that ended around 10,000 years ago with the development of agriculture.
Centered on commonly available modern foods, the “contemporary” Paleolithic diet consists mainly of fish, grass-fed pasture raised meats, vegetables, fruit, fungi, roots, and nuts, and excludes grains, legumes, dairy products, salt, refined sugar, and processed oils.
I have heard from many people who have changed their eating habbits, to the Paleo lifestyle, and not only lost weight but felt so much better after.
If Paleo Diet is something you might be interested in, or you’re just curious, and want to learn more about it, you can join myself and the Mamavation community tomorrow night, Monday August 13th, for this weeks Mamavation TV. We will be discussing the topic with special guest Neely Quinn, the author of “Complete Idiot’s Guide to Eating Paleo”.
I’m actually very interested to learn more about the lifestyle, and to get ideas on how to start Paleo eating. However, I already have a hard time trying to get my kids and husband to eat vegetables and some fruit, but that is something I would love to change.
Have you ever tried the Paleo Diet, or have you considered it? Would love to hear your thoughts on it.
Lastly, I have had a very up and down past couple of weeks. Leaving for BlogHer, coming home, being just exhausted this past couple of weeks hasn’t helped any. I’m not completely caught up like I would like to be, I’m hoping to head back to the gym tomorrow, and start back on track. Especially with the new Mamavation Mom campaign coming up. Have you applied? Applications end this Tuesday, so make sure and get them in HERE!
My weight as of today was 214.8 lbs. Which is like more then three lbs from a couple of weeks ago.
As you can see, I have hit a bump in the road. I just haven’t been giving it my all lately, and I know a lot of it has to do with my mood, anxiety, and tiredness.
This weeks goals include:
- 100 oz of water a day
- Zumba 3x this week
- Circuits at home 2x this week (30 min each)
- No eating out
What are your goals this week?

I haven’t tried the Paleo diet and honestly hadn’t heard about it either until Mamavation. So I will be very interested to learn more. I try to hard to stay away from breads. That’s a tough one for me :(
I gained 3 pounds a couple of weeks ago too…don’t worry. Once you get back to business it will come off. :D
