Breastfeeding is one of those topics that I feel strongly about. We are women, who have babies, and our bodies were meant to provide for them. I’m also not one of those people that will look down upon or shame other mothers for using formula. I actually formula feed my oldest, because I was a new mom, and just didn’t know better.
After becoming pregnant with my second child and learning a thing or two, I knew I wanted to try harder when it came to breastfeeding. My goal was to make it to six weeks, then six months, then twelve months. We actually made it to 14 months. I was so damn proud of myself and her. Shortly after that, I became pregnant with my third.
Since then, the girls are very used to mommy whipping out her boob to feed the baby. That’s just how it is. We are very comfortable with skin around here, and breastfeeding is natural and NOT WEIRD to them.
Trying to nurse outside the home, is a little more challenging, not always, but most of the time. I’m a big chested kinda gal, which leaves me feeling like I just can’t nurse discreetly. When they’re out, they are out, if you know what I mean. Seriously, there is absolutely no reason you can not breastfeed outside the home. No matter where I am I can always find a spot to sit down and lately I have even mastered nursing the baby WHILE wearing her. Super mom skills, I know. Whether I am sitting down or wearing her, I do feel more comfortable covered. When they are little, covering with a simple blanket is fine, but as they get older and start pulling and tugging at it, not so much.
That’s where nursing covers come into play. Thankfully, nowadays there are many different styles of nursing covers available to women. I recently had the chance to get my hands on a gorgeous Bebe au Lait Nursing Cover.
This is the Chateau Silver design, which I chose. I love how simple and beautiful the design is, and the gray and white are very light, easy on the eyes, and neutral.
