Bed Time Routine for Baby?

I have three kids. You would think by now, I would be a pro at putting them to bed. Which, for the most part is easy with the five and two year old. When it comes to getting the baby down for naps or bedtime, I really suck.

I don’t know if it’s just laziness, or the fact that we are either going places during the day, and that ruins nap times, or the fact that we co-sleep, and she’s now too big to leave on the bed alone.

It’s now after 10pm, and she’s laying in my lap playing with an envelop and babbling on.

She should be in bed.

I hate the cry it out method, and she is getting way to big for her Fisher Price Swing.

I know it’s my own damn fault and that I really need to get her on more of a schedule. At least sleeps through the night. Thank Goodness!

My goal this coming month, get that baby to sleep in her crib, for at least her nap times….then work to bed time.

Wish me luck.

  1. Good luck!!!! We did a loose schedule and eventually, Moo Moo started back into her own bed. It took awhile (like, she wasn’t sleeping through the night until about 2 1/2).

  2. Good luck, you can do it! Just start with a routine. Bath, book, then bed.

I started Brooklin around 6 months with her crib. I’d give her a bath then nurse her then lay her down in her crib and leave and she’d fall asleep. I think she cried it out a time or two and then she just started doing it on her own. She never did sleep through the entire night and would usually end up in my bed nursing at 5am. (like the commenter above me said)

I swear though after nap time she’d sit alone in her bed and go #2. As she got older it got worse and we had a smear-age or two. My ONLY child to ever do that and I swear it was always after naptime! That’s why every mother needs a video monitor!!
