This week has been CRAZY!
It all started Saturday night, when my daughter broke her arm.
Then on Monday, the doctors told us she needed to have surgery. My tiny little two year old.
It seriously broke my heart, for her.
Pretty much what happened was, she fractured her arm right above the elbow, and it was sticking out backwards. They could have just put her in a cast, but it would have healed up the wrong way, and allowed her to be able to bend her arm completely backwards. Gross, right? So they put her under, popped it back in place, and “pinned” it.
I think the worst part for her though, was that she wasn’t allowed any food for almost 12 hours. It was complete torture for her.
Now, she is in a bright pink (oh yeah!) cast with a sling for three weeks. Then they remove the cast and pins and she has a sling for three more weeks.
It’s been only a few days since her surgery and she is doing really well! Her swelling is gone, and she is only needing the pain meds before bed and when she wakes up in the morning.
After spending ALL DAY at the hospital on Monday. We barely made it home in time for the Mamavation Mom twitter party, where we found out who the next Mamavation Moms were going to be.
You guys…I did it!!
Huge thank you to everyone that voted for me! You can check out my first Mamavation Mom post here.
If that wasn’t crazy enough, I had a 5:30am flight Tuesday morning to New York City!
I have never in my almost 26 years, been to the east coast, let alone NYC.
I flew out there to help celebrate two new summer items for McDonald’s with a dozen or so other bloggers. All of whom were so nice and being my first blogging event, just a great time overall.
The two new summer items are, the Blueberry Banana Nut Oatmeal and the McCafe Cherry Berry Chiller. Which you will see on their menu starting this month through September.
Feel free to check out what everyone thought over on twitter through the #McDFirstTaste hashtag.
Tuesday night, we enjoyed a delicious berry inspired dinner created by celebrity Chef Dave Martin at the Culinary Loft. Everyone also helped prepare the meal, which was really fun. Not to mention delicious! The best part, they gave us the recipes to everything made, which I am looking forward to making at home and hopefully sharing them with you.
Wednesday morning, we were pampered with berry inspired manicures from Lisa Logan, mini- massages, and make-up applications. As well, the beautiful Bobbie Thomas was there sharing the hottest trends in berry tones.
She was so insanely sweet, and just loved on Athena.
There were also nutrition experts, and the Chairman of the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council talking about how McDonald’s is trying to provide healthier options for costumers, and as hard as it is for them to add on produce like apples and blueberries, they are trying. I applaud them for that. I know many health conscious people dislike McDonald’s. I totally understand that. But for me and my family, I like to at least have the option of eating out and being able to choose healthy options like salads, fruit, yogurt, and oatmeal.
As much fun as NYC was, I am so thankful to be home today and slowly, but surely getting back into my routine.
I received my NYC trip and stay courteously of McDonald’s, but my opinions and thoughts are always my own.

Glad you had fun…but boy has it been a whirlwind for you! Get some rest in when you get a chance!

I am very happy for you about winning the Mamavation thing and feel happy inside that my vote was just one of so many! Congrats. And the broken arm sounds horrible, but the trip to NYC sounds really fine. I love using blueberries in recipes and am glad McD’s is offering options that might appeal to people like me. What a week you had!

Oh girl, what a busy and crazy week for you! I’m so excited for you about the Mamavation gig – you are going to do great. So glad you enjoyed your trip to NYC too. Hope your little one is doing okay with her cast :(

It was great meeting you and chatting at the McDFirstTaste Event. I am so sad about your daughters arm i am sure i would be devastated had that happened to my little lady. I failed to mention at the event that right before we were set to leave kids at grandmas to head over to NYC my daughter smashed her finger nail on a screen door her finger nail is totally purple :(

It was great to meet you too! She’s doing pretty good, considering. I’m sorry about your little one. I have done that before, and it’s not fun.
Awww, big hugs to you and your little one.
Wow, talk about busy. I hope your little girl heals quickly. Remember that it itches under there! I had a cast in the summer and when they took it off I had pen, pencil, and hanger marks because it itched so bad!
Congratulations on being a Mamavation Mom! I look forward to reading about your journey.
Sounds like you had a lot of fun in New York. We eat McDonalds occasionally and I like that they are offering healthier options.

Looks like a fun event. I’m glad McDonald’s is creating healthier food options and sharing that with bloggers.
