Can you eat healthy at Panda Express?

This was my question last night.

The thing is, like any fast food restaurant, you want to make better choices overall.

One thing I especially loved was being able to go to Panda Express’ website and figuring out ahead of time, what I was going to choose and what the nutritional values were.

Some of you may have seen or heard about their new Paw Plate?

If you haven’t, basically they took their 2 item plate and changed it to a 3 item plate, but with smaller portions, at the same price.

Now, I have seen complaints about it on their Facebook Fan Page, about the “smaller portions”. If you really think about it though, your still getting the same amount of food as before, but it’s spaced out between 3 entrees instead of just 2.

For people who can never decide what to get, it’s perfect.

Anyways, so last night I took to Panda Express in the drive through. Drive though is a must with 3 kids. Because lord knows I do not want to drag all three of them in when they are hungry. Not all Panda Express’ are drive through’s, just depends on where you live.

I got two Paw Plate meals + their Shanghai Angus Steak which was free yesterday with a coupon.

Both feed all four of us and then some.

I ended up picking

For my meal, I choose veggies instead of rice or noodles and I tried to stay away from the fried meats, which was hard because I got orange chicken for Nick and the girls, and it smelt so good.

Overall, my meal was around 780 calories, which is a little higher then my recent 500 calorie meals, but not crazy high. However the sodium was way more then a day’s worth.

I have to admit their food is absolute deliciousness and the new Panda Plate is a really great idea, but it’s definitely a once in a while occasion for myself.

I received our meals complimentary of Panda Express. All thoughts and opinions remain my own.

  2. I LOVE Panda Express. Sadly, I do not make healthy choices when I go there. I’m so sad that Rylie won’t ever get the chance to try Panda Express, or any other Chinese restaurants, because of her cashew allergy. :-( Because it is soooooo good!
