How is it that my husband and I, both managed to go 25 years without breaking a single bone in our bodies, but our poor little girl, after only 2 years has already broken her arm?
Seriously. I don’t know how many times we tell the girls, “Don’t run in the house.” or “Stop jumping on the couch.” We say these things to them, not because we don’t want them to have any fun. We just don’t want them to get hurt.
Just like last night.
I was cooking dinner, so I’m not exactly sure the details. I do know she was jumping across our NEW freaking sectional, and fell off onto the floor. Of course she cried. Just like any other time. But for a kid who just broke her arm, you wouldn’t have known.
We didn’t.
We didn’t even realize anything was wrong until an hour later, when they were about to get ready for bed. Her arm was all swollen and hard.
We rushed over to the ER, where they took x-rays and told us in fact it was broken. She has an elbow fracture.
They put her in a splint, until Monday. Then we go to Shriner’s Hospital to have the doctor look at it and decide if she needs surgery. Surgery? I don’t even want to think about that.
Then of course a cast…I wonder if they have pink?
Anyways, it’s going to be one crazy week this week.

I am so surprised my two three year old hasn’t broken his arm from falling off the couch yet! (knock on wood) My husband broke many bones as a child and the only bone I broke as a child was an unfix-able one in my wrist playing basketball that I just had to wear a brace on for like 6 weeks. Hope your little one feels better soon! :)

Thanks =)
Oh poor kiddo! When one of my twins was 1.5, my oldest daughter was carrying her down the stairs and fell. Since she had the baby on her hip, she basically “sat” on the baby’s leg, breaking it. We didn’t realize it was broken until later and it was in the middle of a blizzard. I was at home alone so I had to shovel three feet of snow to take her to the hospital. She got a nice pink cast, all six long inches of it. Sending you nice healing vibes and a speedy recovery!

Oh wow! Poor thing. How long did she have to have a cast? That’s probably harder to deal with then an arm.
She was lucky and it was just a hair away from the growth plate. Amazingly, she only had to have it two weeks. I guess babies heal faster! The cast actually came off at one point because it was so small. We went to the ER and had it put back on, only to visit the regular doc the next day and have it removed again.
It was hard because we weren’t allowed to let her walk. Try telling that to a little toddler! She is almost 12 now and we still have the little pink cast that fell off with everyone’s signature.
Ironically, when she broke her leg, it wasn’t her fault but must have damaged her more than we thought because her and stairs do not get along. She falls on the stairs DAILY. It’s a running joke around here. Riyan and the stairs, lol.

Poor child. Wishing that will be her last. By the way, don’t mind us waiting for an update from you. Just take care of her until she’s all good. Hope she’ll be better soon. And oh! I don’t think they have a pink cast there XD
I’d be shocked if they don’t have pink! My son’s second leg cast when he broke his leg last summer (at 18 months, from going down the slide with Daddy) was hot pink.
Poor thing. It’s no fun, but they’re surprisingly resilient…she’ll be good as new before you know it! And I bet she’ll adapt to the cast in ways you can’t even imagine.
Oh my goodness, bless her little heart! She reminds me a lot of my 2 year old granddaughter, especially her eyes. I think they do have pink casts but it surely breaks my heart seeing her in this picture and knowing she did this. My grandson just cut his head open at school (he is 4) and I was totally sick and crying. I hate to see kids get hurt but…guess it just happens.
