Summer is just around the corner!

You know what that means? It’s time to work on the house.

For the past couple of months, we have been talking about remodeling the house.

We need to update a few windows in the bedrooms, as well as in the basement. It’s an older home, and the windows are old, outdated, and let too much air and sound in.

We also need to update our bathroom. I don’t know what the heck they were thinking when they remolded it (probably in the 80′s), but it has burgundy and black swirled plastic tiles, half way up the walls. Seriously? It’s really ugly.

I’m thinking let’s take off all the tile, paint, and instead of the tub surround, do tile. Like this inspiration from This Old House.

Beautiful, isn’t it?

Besides the bathroom, we are also thinking about opening up the kitchen. Now, when I say open, I mean like tearing down the wall to the backyard and adding on about eight feet or so.

Now, this would be a HUGE project. I’m talking $10,000 huge. I am getting all sweaty just thinking about it.

The reason it would cost us at least that much is, mostly the construction. Tearing down the wall, adding new walls, new siding, and a sliding glass door. I think it would be awesome to have a sliding glass door, that leads until one of those composite decks, and into the backyard. I can just picture all the summer time dinners, Barbecue-ing on the deck, while watching the girls run though the sprinklers.

Heaven.

That leads me to the last area we need to work on, which is the outside. A couple of years ago, he tilled the pathetic patch of grass that was there, and added new seeds. It looks awesome now, except for a quarter of the yard, which he did not do. We need to add in flowers, maybe bushes, and also replace our old wood fence with a composite fence.

Being a home owner is very tiring, but at the same time, it’s a lot of fun redoing and redecorating! Especially with Pinterest to help!
