Continuum Games is a privately owned company with a mission to bring families together through exciting new game concepts that appeal to all generations of game players. First formed by Greg and Niki Hughes in 2007, the company has grown from a small game manufacturing company into a full service game publishing company, distributor and consulting firm. Continuum Games publishes its own line of award winning family games, educational games, party games and travel games and also serve as a distributor to the BEST in class games from independent manufacturers.
The first game we had the chance to try out was Lumps, The Elf Coal Game ($7.99) which is available at local Hallmark Gold Crown stores, Books-A-Million, Go! Games and 100s of specialty toy stores in the US.
The game comes with a variety of different sided dice. The goal is to roll them, match up pairs and score the highest points while also offering a variety of bonus points, kind of like Yahtzee. It’s pretty good for a dice game.
However, the only thing Christmas about it I feel is the name and the fact the dice come in a stocking. It’s designed for 1-100 players. We played with just two, my spouse and I, as our kids are too young.
The rules are pretty basic but trying to determine and keep track of all the bonus points is a little confusing. I will obviously say that the more you play the more you get into it but I had a hard time getting it to keep my attention. I think the game would be more engaging with more players and even more of an incentive to win. I like that the dice are black and come in all different shapes but I feel the game is lacking direction.
I was looking forward to Family Talk 2 ($9.99) available online, which is the second game we got to play. It is a game of questions where you take turns asking and answering from a ring of cards.
I have a three year old son and a spouse so I thought we could use some good fuel for striking up conversation. The questions were nothing like what I had expected. Some of them were a little advanced for my son but we managed to explain them and word them in a way that allowed us to have a nice conversation and learning lesson.
It also had topics we didn’t previously discuss that we should have, like our family’s safety word. We don’t have one. I would recommend this game for coming up with conversations that you wouldn’t normally think of.
Not only do they sell games, Continuum Consulting is a product development, publishing, marketing and sales organization that recognizes the need for a one stop source of assistance for new toy, game and novelty inventors. Cool right?
Continuum Games offers almost 60 different games to choose from for the whole family, which you can purchase online or at a store near you.
