I will admit, I am nervous when I bring music aimed at kids in to my home. Not because I am afraid to be silly but because it’s hard to find good kid music you can really get in to. When daddy found out we would be reviewing the Music Together Family Favorites & Lullabies CD’s, he too was a little hesitant. I will say that Music Together has changed that.
Music Together, the acclaimed, international early childhood music education program for children from birth through kindergarten has enriched the musical lives of families around the world. Since its founding in 1987, Music Together has offered developmentally appropriate, research-based classes for children and their parents and caregivers in more than 2,000 communities and 35 countries around the world. Hundreds of thousands of families have come to love Music Together classes—and music!
I was a little disappointed at first that there were no lyrics along with the music, but after the second or third time of listening to Music Together you get a feel for it and you just jump in with your own rhythm and tones.
Each Music Together CD comes with the history of the songs, or different things you can do to interact with your child. The kids and I just go crazy, let our hair down and sing wholeheartedly the best we can. My three year old and I dance around banging our hands on our knees or the table or whatever we can and my ten month old claps her hands in excited anticipation.
My favorite album is their Lullabies, only because there are songs on there that remind me of the books I read as a child, and they’re all done so beautifully.
I love the voices, the beat, the feeling you get, the way each song is and I’m very grateful for the interactive and silly opportunity that Music Together has allowed us to have as a family.
I would love to see Music Together create a Christmas album in the future!
Listen to song samples and download the Music Together CD’s for only $9.99 each. Also, check out all the fun stuff they have available in their online store like, instruments, clothing, and gift certificates.
