We recently had the opportunity to build an Eitech Beginner Solar Set Helicopter/Aircraft Construction Set. I was really excited for my daughter to try, because it’s not something she has done before. Normally, it’s all dolls and dress up, but I think an educational toy that is designed to encourage learning through building, how-to, while teaching them about Solar power too, should be on everyone’s list!
The Eitech line provides a variety of construction building kits fit for a variety of different skill levels. Whether used at school or at home, Eitech sets are the ultimate learning tool for aspiring engineers, teaching children the value of both electricity and solar energy.
This model is designed for kids 4 years and up. I would say that 4 years is a definitely the minimum. Carleigh being almost 5 years old still needed daddy to help build it. Talk about a great bonding time though! They spent about 30 minutes or so building it. He would have her find the pieces that matched the photo, as well as help him tighten the bolts and nuts. All the pieces are made of plastic, except the wings and propeller which are made of a soft foam.
She loved seeing it all come together! What’s pretty neat too is that you can choose to build it as a helicopter OR airplane.
My husband had only two complaints about it. One, being that when all said and done, there were a pack of washers that they were supposed to use (but it was not shown in the directions) and the extra direction sheet it came with (which might have said to use them) was in German.
