Man, do I wish that my 1.5 year old could just talk already! This morning at breakfast, she decided to throw a FIT like no other. The reason was so stupid, but because she can’t communicate more then pointing, she had a really hard time.
It really comes down to she wants to be treated more like her big sister. So when I gave her a smaller bowl then C, she wasn’t happy. So I put her cereal in a bigger bowl. She was okay for about a minute. Then I finally figured out she wanted a metal spoon, not her baby spoon. Seriously kid? It’s just a spoon.
Still 20 min into it, STILL crying I took her out of her high chair to the bathroom to blow her nose and wash her face. Fresh start, right. We head back to the table and she starts freaking out again. I finally decide that maybe she doesn’t want THAT cereal but another one.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
So after a half an hour of crying and complete chaos, she is eating her food.
Hurry up kid and start talking, please!

I am in the exact same predicament with my 19 month old . He gets so frustrated he cannot tell me what he wants. He points, brings to me what he wants or trys to say stuff just cant do it yet. He throws a fit if I dont get it. Its like playing baby charades all day lol
Soon they will be talking up a storm and really letting us know what they think!

I know, soon enough!
Oh yes, isn't the struggle amazing?!! Levi is teething molars right now and I find he gets especially hard to please when that's the case. (Pick me up! No, put me down! I'm hungry! I don't want food! Play with me! Don't look at me! and on and on and on…) I'm just trying to keep a sense of humor in all of it so that I don't go crazy! :)

I totally know how you feel! It's so frustrating that as little as they are, they still have things they want and need but just can't tell us! It's hard to be a mom/mind reader these days, too many options!
If only we could read minds!!
Same problem with my 15 month old. Tonight at dinner, he threw a fit because he didn't want water he wanted juice, but he's confused about where juice comes from. He kept holding his sippy cup up to the water dispenser in the fridge. It took quite a while to figure out he wanted juice. Once I finally did, he sat happily in his chair and ate. Sigh.

Wow, sounds just like my grandson. He has only a few words yet and it is hard. We have been teaching him from the Signing Time dvds and that is starting to help. Good luck.
